About Me
If you are here, you may be carrying something that feels unresolved, patterns that repeat, emotions that feel overwhelming, or experiences that continue to shape your relationships and sense of self. My work centers on trauma recovery and the development of steady, reflective emotional regulation.
From an early age, I was drawn to meaning, connection, and beauty, even amid uncertainty. Writing music became a sanctuary, a way for emotion to take form and find balance. Later, mindfulness and meditation strengthened my ability to meet life’s challenges with steadiness and clarity. These experiences continue to shape how I sit with others in therapy: attentive to complexity, grounded in the present, and oriented toward growth.
I draw from contemplative psychotherapy, neuroscience, and integrative models of emotional development. I place particular emphasis on self reflection as a pathway to healing and on understanding how the brain and nervous system respond to adversity and repair. Trauma is not only a psychological experience; it is physiological and relational. Healing involves building the capacity to notice, regulate, and respond differently over time.
Exploring generational trauma through my mother’s experiences in wartime Germany strengthened my conviction that healing involves more than resolving individual pain. Trauma often lives across generations, shaped by displacement, war, and structural injustice. Its transformation is both personal and collective. Years spent living abroad further deepened my understanding of how individuals and communities cultivate strength and meaning amid conflict and uncertainty.
I view healing as more than symptom reduction. For many people, growth involves reconnecting with meaning, values, and deeper sources of strength. When appropriate, I welcome conversations about spirituality as part of the therapeutic process. My role is not to impose belief, but to create space for reflection, helping clients integrate the psychological, relational, and existential dimensions of their experience in ways that feel coherent and authentic.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. My work is trauma focused and neuroscience informed, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma Focused Therapy, and mindfulness based practices. I have advanced training in child and adolescent trauma, developmental trauma, trauma informed care, and somatic approaches, and I have presented in professional and educational settings on contemplative awareness and the thoughtful integration of spirituality within clinical work.
Outside of counseling, I find grounding in farming with my husband, traveling to visit our children and grandchildren, and creating sea glass mosaics, a reminder that beauty can emerge from what has been broken.
One of my greatest privileges is offering the kind of presence I once needed myself: someone who listens deeply, honors complexity, and trusts in each person’s capacity for growth. While we cannot always change our past, we can transform our relationship to it and begin to reclaim a sense of wholeness.
